Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
Precognition is usually understood to be a sense of knowledge about "future" events, while retrocognition is the term used to define its opposite, or knowledge of "past" events. Why do I place these terms in parentheses? I do so because the concept of linear time (otherwise referred to as the "tapestry" view of time) is actually illusionary. "Past" and "future" don't really exist in the True Universe, but rather as phenomena created by what Daoists call the "ordinary" or "acquired" mind, all points in space and time exist concurrently. In actuality, everything exists simultaneously in one unfathomable moment of "now", and from the adept perspective, this is how the True Universe functions. Since this concept is too immense for most of our minds to handle in relation to the day to day, mundane workings of the world, we flatten this idea out, put it in a sequential order and we have reincarnation.
Being that concepts of past and future are illusionary, we can access these other points in space and time right now through a variety of methods. The single most important aspect of this ability, however, is awareness. Knowledge of other points in space and time is really just a matter of shifting awareness, as are astral travel, hedge crossing, bilocation, etc. The one common facet of each and every method used here is an all encompassing silence at some point. This can come about through a variety of means, but the end result should be the same. Through silence, we are able to hear, see, and otherwise sense that which would remain obstructed from us, and the more accustomed we get to this silence, the better we are able to access it. Adopting a good, consistent meditative practice is a great way to start developing this ability, as it allows us to more or less shut down the noise of the external (and eventually) internal environments. Once we become comfortable with silence, any method we choose of accessing past or future information becomes a matter of personal preference. With silence, we can see and hear clearly, regardless of technique. Without it, not much of anything we try will work.

I natrually am slightly pre-cognitive and abit more retro cognitive. My main use of this is too tell a person, place or things story.

I am retro cognitive, and often end up knowing more than I wish. They say ignorance is Blys for a reason.

Most of us are naturally more inclined towards one than the other, but the same methods can be used to train both. Also, it's the same process for determining present events in other points of space...again, it's a matter of shifting awareness. Regardless of predisposition, we can practice and train to be able to work within all three areas. It's just easier for some than others.

I wouldn't say I have a massive degree of Pre-cognition...However I've noticed I can generally predict what's about to happen on a TV series with ease. No matter how complicated the plot line seems, or how political it is (I'm talking the ones that AREN'T predictable too)
Kinda ruins horror films for me to...
Irritatingly it seems not to be a very active trait for me, except in films. Even then it seems more logically based then intuitively for me. In short, my Psychic ability sucks ass.

Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
I'm more of a retro cognitive type but sometimes I get small glimpses of what is to come.
I hate it when I remember the past(former lives).
It usually is about me stepping in and interacting with a civilization then suddenly the earth or the sea swallows the cities.
Then I find myself to be the only one left standing on sand and searching for some sentient being to talk to..
Pretty weird if you ask me..

Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
Some people end up thinking the pre cognitive becuase they can influence "random" and future events. It can get highly confusing.
Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
I am also retro cognitive, I've seen not only past lives of my own but also past events in both my dreams and trance states. As for precognitio I am glad I don't have that in me, it would've been too much to handle for me personally

Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
I've seen it drive people over the edge. Not a nice thing to see or know.
Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
i guess you could say that i am a little of both. i see what will be in some of my dreams as well as what has already passed.
Re: Precognition, Retrocognition, and the Power of Silence
same, although I expect you've got a preference
